Neighbors & Presents

So, our next door neighbors have been (finally) working on a remodel. We're praying they follow up quickly with landscaping, but that's a whole other story...  They had a large piece of plywood across the front of their house until today. This is what it revealed...we are feeling flattered, I guess! It kind of feels like when you are pregnant and talking about your name ideas and suddenly a friend has their baby and names them one of 'your' names! Another way to look at it...we are neighborhood trend-setters! ;)

This year at school, the PTA brought in a company that sells tchotckes for kids to buy as presents for their family. I agreed to give Wyatt and AB $10 each to spend on the family (and they could bring more if they wanted, of their own). Wyatt went in quickly and spent his money and handed AB her $10. She took a while longer, then came to me with her leftover money but asked if she could go back and buy something for herself. She could, but she had to pay me back.  So, she spent $2.75 on herself and gave me $2 and change back, meaning she spent $5+change on the four of us.

While we were getting out of the car, Wyatt mentioned that he only got stuff for Matthew and me, and sheesh, "It was expensive!". I said, "Wow, you spent $10, but didn't get anything for the girls?" He said he spent $13! He had brought $3 of his own!

He came right home, holed himself up in the room, and went to work wrapping. He was so proud (in his own - don't look at me way) to bring out his gifts and be the first to put them under the tree.

This morning, he asked if he could have a few more minutes after school to go back to the shop to buy something for the girls. I'm one proud mama...he took his own money, and wanted to make sure they had something too!

AB, well, she possibly spent more on herself than on the rest of us combined, and she's already misplaced my present somewhere in her room!
