Neighbors & Presents

So, our next door neighbors have been (finally) working on a remodel. We're praying they follow up quickly with landscaping, but that's a whole other story...  They had a large piece of plywood across the front of their house until today. This is what it revealed...we are feeling flattered, I guess! It kind of feels like when you are pregnant and talking about your name ideas and suddenly a friend has their baby and names them one of 'your' names! Another way to look at it...we are neighborhood trend-setters! ;)

This year at school, the PTA brought in a company that sells tchotckes for kids to buy as presents for their family. I agreed to give Wyatt and AB $10 each to spend on the family (and they could bring more if they wanted, of their own). Wyatt went in quickly and spent his money and handed AB her $10. She took a while longer, then came to me with her leftover money but asked if she could go back and buy something for herself. She could, but she had to pay me back.  So, she spent $2.75 on herself and gave me $2 and change back, meaning she spent $5+change on the four of us.

While we were getting out of the car, Wyatt mentioned that he only got stuff for Matthew and me, and sheesh, "It was expensive!". I said, "Wow, you spent $10, but didn't get anything for the girls?" He said he spent $13! He had brought $3 of his own!

He came right home, holed himself up in the room, and went to work wrapping. He was so proud (in his own - don't look at me way) to bring out his gifts and be the first to put them under the tree.

This morning, he asked if he could have a few more minutes after school to go back to the shop to buy something for the girls. I'm one proud mama...he took his own money, and wanted to make sure they had something too!

AB, well, she possibly spent more on herself than on the rest of us combined, and she's already misplaced my present somewhere in her room!

Annabelle...

Proud parent moment yesterday - all five of us were sitting at the front of Annabelle's class for "family share day". One of the kids asked her what her favorite book was. Her answer? The Gas We Pass

Our tree!

A new treat trial...I just can't make peanut butter balls this year! This just might be the perfect replacement!

A trial at packaging them up, too, because I MUST get them outta here immediately!

And, our tree! Personally delivered directly from Tahoe by John & Chieko! I put it in the stand by myself!

Friendship feast

Stuffing Fixin's!!!

Daphne had a Friendship Feast at school. All family is invited, and the kids sort of help making a part of the feast. It was really cute! (Try not to look too closely at Annabelle's hair. She showered that morning, but I obviously didn't supervise the hair styling!)

No timeline Satutday

A long, lazy morning of TV, Turkey Day planning, LEGOS, dress up and runs for both of us.

After lunch all 5 of us went to the mall -couldn't pass up 40% off at the GAP. Here, we made a quick stop to Coach to see what might be under the tree for Mama!

And then to Costco for the preliminaries for Thanksgiving!

We finished off the day with dinner at a German restaurant with John, Chieko and the cousins! So great to have time to do whatever...

Bursting heart!

Wyatt leaves for school every day before the rest of us, on his bike. When he says he's ready to go, both girls insist on a kiss and a hug before he goes. Makes me feel like something is going right...

Vocab

Annabelle had an assignment to define the word corkscrew (as in curls in hair). The word is in a Thanksgiving story they're going to read today. Here's a practice run of her presentation:

Count down

The obvious...

And, what Annabelle made after she saw what Daph and I had made earlier in the day. Hers is a countdown to December...and Thanksgiving...and, and, and...she keeps adding other things! And, that's a pilgrim girl under the rainbow!

Indoor soccer

Mondays for Annabelle, Wednesdays for Wyatt. The last time we were all here is when Wyatt was playing in kindergarten and Daphne was a newborn. Ugh, another sign of time flying!!!

3-d movie

We all went to see Wreck it Ralph today. I think Matthew and I enjoyed it more than the kids!

Saturday

Wyatt, Matthew and I went to watch the NCS championship game between San Ramon Valley High School and Miramonte. It was a great game to watch, sadly, San Ramon lost 9-8.
This is the student section:

Wyatt being a big turkey...I was trying for a pic of he and I, and this was as good as I could get.

Here's what's on Daphne's mind...
